Two major road projects are part of the considerable infrastructure developments planned for Adelaide’s northern region, one of these being the Northern Expressway.
The Northern Expressway – the State’s largest road construction project since the 1960s – is valued at more than $500,000 and involves:
- The construction of a new two-way expressway between Gawler and Port Wakefield Road, a distance of about 23km; and
- An upgrade of Port Wakefield Road from the north of Taylor Road to the Salisbury Highway, a distance of 10 km. The upgrade will cater for future traffic volumes.
